Uniform Policy
CBA does require that all of our students wear a uniform at all times. Our decision to utilize a uniform is based upon decades worth of research showing that students DO learn more easily in an atmosphere wherein they are dressed for success and do not need to stress about socioeconomic brand division. Moreover, our uniform gives us a way to automatically identify young people who attend CBA as members of our community. This is of the utmost importance to us as we begin our journey as an academy. For special events and learning excursions, our uniforms will help us remain united and present ourselves well as a school entity. As an arts school, we deeply value each student's personal expression, and we will ensure at least one dress-down day a month to allow students the opportunity to express themselves through the clothing choices. However, we also believe, as an arts school, that how you look is only ONE method of self-expression and hope to provide our students with countless other mechanisms and opportunities for expressing their uniqueness.
Please carefully read over what is required for students at each grade level. We utilize Lands End as our uniform supplier. If you would like to order any CBA Spirit Wear for your family, you may do so on Lands End by following the same school code and selecting Spirit Wear on the drop down menu. We encourage you to represent our school with pride!
Regarding other dress code matters, students in grades 9 and under MAY NOT have colored hair, fake nails, eyelash extensions, or visible tattoos/henna art. Students in our Upper School, grades 10 through 12, may have naturally colored hair and artificial nails no longer than an inch, but we do prohibit eyelash extensions and visible tattoos/henna art at all grade levels. Any nail polish must not be distracting; please only allow your child to select nude tones, white, or black polish; modest nail art is acceptable, but rhinestones and neon airbrushing will not be allowed. Male students must keep their hair trimmed above the color of their shirts and may not wear "man buns" or styles with words/symbols shaved into their scalps. Students at all grade levels must come to school neatly attired, with good hygiene in place for the benefit of the entire school community. We appreciate parental support in these matters.
